The Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) seeks to promote and challenge talented orchestral musicians by providing an opportunity to perform repertoire of a wide variety of styles and historical periods with the goal of musical excellence. Membership in MYSO consists of junior high and high school students from Joliet and 21 surrounding communities as well as students from Lewis University and Joliet Junior College.

The orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Lawrence Sisk, rehearses on Wednesday evening from late August through May at Lewis University with concerts performed at Joliet Junior College and Lewis University

Founded in Chicago in 1959 -- Located in Joliet, Illinois since 1991, MYSO is partially supported by the Illinois Arts Council.

We are still auditioning bassoons and trombones. All other sections of the orchestra are filled. Interested musicians should contact Pam Nogal to set up an appointment.
